In a Deutsche Cricket Board (DCB) statement, the board welcomed the former cricketer and was delighted to benefit from his coaching experience.

"We are delighted to welcome Atiq-uz-Zaman as head coach of the men's national team. The national team is preparing for this summer's ICC World Cup qualifiers in Scotland. The first two places will be played there, meaning you can play directly in the T20 World Championships in 2024," the statement said.

"His involvement in elite cricket as a coach and player will be an asset to our players and coaching staff and will enable us to further develop our current national and under-19 teams, as well as talent development in German cricket in general." to explain.

Zaman has represented Pakistan in one test and three ODIs and is currently aiming for his Tier 4 qualification.
